Know what to expect:

This basement project is explained start to finish including pictures of the progress and result. This is a 400 sft finished basement, there is about 200 sft of storage space, the heater and laundry is also located in this area. This basement is getting a basic finishing without bathroom or bar area.

The room is prepaired by hanging plastic across to prevent dust from going into the storage area and protect the home owners belongings.
Before framing, "Firestop" is applied (this is a required step and is done by covering the space behind the wall to ceiling with drywall, any cracks and wiring holes are later filled with firestop (orange) expansion foam before insulation is installed). The framing goes pretty quick, doorways are created and a closet emerges around the sump pump. The stairway gets a half wall to create axtra wallspace and by doing so will give extra dimension to the room.

After framing we can install electrical outlets and install ceiling lights. Also some ductwork has to be re-routed to allow for proper circulation and we're installing two ceiling vents. A return is created in the wall to the storage space after drywall is applied.

Time to install the insulation.

Drywall is applied and once this process is finished, the doors and trim are installed and it's ready for paint.
